Master Gardeners Seed Exchange

Please note the new dates and times effective Monday  February 16th, 2026.

In Texas it seems it is always time to start thinking about saving seeds (and the Seed Exchange). As you watch your bountiful harvest of beautiful veggies and flowers, note the hardy and disease resistant varieties. Those are the ones you want to plant repeatedly, save the seeds from and hopefully share with others through the Seed Exchange. But there are other reasons to save those seeds:

Why Save Seeds?

Saving seeds helps you and the community:

• Save money
• Increase food access
• Encourage ecosystem stability
• Protect and preserve pollinators
• Increase self-reliance and resiliency
• Grow more delicious, fresh, healthy food
• Preserve and increase vital seed diversity
• Adapt plants to the local, changing micro-climate
• Maintain cultural history of culinary and agricultural traditions

So, ready for the first step in your seed saving journey? For specific guides on how to store your seeds and how long to keep them plus other helpful tips visit the Master Gardeners Seed Exchange any Monday between 10:00 AM and Noon, and on Wednesday between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Volunteers are always welcome to join us! Plus, anyone with ideas on how to make this seed exchange more efficient/proficient we really want to hear from you! See you there?

The Seed Exchange is held in the Guadalupe County Master Gardener’s Library, which is located upstairs in the AgriLife Extension Building, 210 E. Live Oak St., Seguin, TX.

Monday’s between 10:00AM and Noon, and Wednesday’s between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
