 Guadalupe County Community Garden (GCCG) Guadalupe County Annex Building in Schertz, 1101 Elbel Road, Schertz, TX 78154 Chairman Linda Bruno, jlbruno@gvec.net Date: Workdays scheduled Every Mondays and Thursdays 9:00am, and 2nd Saturday of each month;  Task: Volunteers will monitor – maintain, repair, plant. This teaching garden as well as maintain raised beds that provides produce for Food Banks and other needy programs.  Contact Garden committee if you would like to work in the garden another day or time.  All volunteer workers welcome.

Wilson County Gardening Day March     Saturday In Floresville,Chairman Peggy Jones, pljones@swbell.net   Two shifts 7:45am to 4:00pm Task: Volunteers take materials and free seeds to give out at the booth and answer questions (also a good source to buy plants, see other demonstrations and ideas for our future programs.)  Great to promote our upcoming class with our booth.

Earth Day in Seguin at the Square on April 27 2013 8:30 to 2:30 Committee Chairman: Randy Rye, randy.rye@gmail.com Task: In February, a committee of volunteers come up with a theme for recycle, and selects a chairman. Set up three booths and volunteers carry materials, set up display, talk to town’s people about plants and gardening, answer questions, and possible demonstrations. This is a great Location to recruit for next Master Gardener class.

Guadalupe County Fair ,on second week in October 10-13 City of Seguin Coliseum 950 South Austin Street, Seguin, TX 78155, Chairman ____________ co Chairman ______________ Kids Table_________________Master Gardeners are responsible for acceptance of Horticultural and other related entries to be judged. During the Fair, Master Gardeners operate an information and demonstration booths where they talk to the public and answer questions and give seeds and handouts.

Water Fairs,May _____________ October_________ and October _________ and November__________ Volunteers set up Rainfall simulator and or Water Cycle display this is a shorter time demonstrating than the Ag Fair and Ag day for Kids.  

Ag Awareness Fair-The Big Red Barn – in October (three weeks) Texas Agricultural Education & Heritage Center, Big Red Barn, 390 Cordova Road, Seguin, Texas 78155 Chairman _____________, Volunteers talk to 3rd 4th or 5th graders about importance of gardening and produce in 15-20 minute increments around 12 times during the day. (Master Gardeners schedule volunteers for only three days.) Master Gardeners are approved to volunteer the other days thru the Big Red barn by calling (830) 379-0933.

Pecan Festival in October 26, Texas Agricultural Education & Heritage Center, Big Red Barn 390 Cordova Road, Seguin, Texas 78155  Chairman _________________   Volunteers will man the vegetable garden at the Big Red Barn answering questions — we need olks in the garden, volunteer shifts (ideally, two volunteers per shift; volunteers are welcome to serve on more than one shift) Also at other stations in the Barn and still get credit hours (helping with kids activities)

Ag Fair-Texas A&M AgriLife – Schertz/Cibolo/Universal City, in November Location Cibolo FFA Barn, this is a 2-day event. Chairman ____________ Co-chairman____________ Volunteers set up display, with gardening/produce, horticulture and water shed stations during 15 to 20-minute presentations around 12 times each day, to 3rd or 4th grade elementary students. There is no garden at this location to walk thru Master Gardeners use the Raised Bed Display and the Jr. Master Gardener travel displays to introduce teachers and students the square foot gardening concept.

Christmas tree decorating contest in Seguin at the Square, end of November or December Chairman __________________ co-chairman Betty Hughes 2012 plan, and create a theme, make decorations, decorate and take down tree in Seguin’s Central Park.
